Types of Funds Available

There are many Types of Funds available for you to choose from:

Unrestricted Funds offer the broadest giving option, allowing dollars to be used for grantmaking, operations and special projects.  This fund provides the most flexibility in meeting the ever-changing needs of our community.

Field of Interest Funds create grants that support a targeted population, a particular area of interest or a particular geographic area.

Community Funds are field of interest funds that the Foundation has already identified as broad areas of need within Carver County.  Those three Community Funds are:

Human Growth Fund promotes the healthy development and educational needs of families and individuals of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Livable Communities Fund promotes livable communities and innovative approaches to community growth and development.

Community Connections Fund encourages community connections and linkages through civic engagement, leadership development and community building activities.

Donor Advised Funds allow donors to actively participate in the grantmaking process.

Scholarship Funds allow donors to invest in the community's future by supporting student education.  You may define guidelines for candidacy, the advisory committee, the school and the award itself.

Designated Funds let you support specific organizations while we make sure that grants to these groups remain relevant over time and responsive to changing circumstances.

Agency Funds are established by nonprofit organizations to provide income to them or as a pass-through fund.  We handle all administrative and investment responsibilities, freeing the organization to pursue its charitable mission.

Carver County Health Partnership (CCHP) Fund is a collaborative effort of local businesses, non profits, community groups, concerned citizens, governments, and churches working together to make Carver County a healthy place to live and work.

Fiscal Sponsorship Funds are established by local groups addressing a particular need or project in the region.  In this case, the project operates under the umbrella of the Foundation's nonprofit 501 (c) (3) designation.  This allows contributions to be tax-deductible and the project to focus on its mission.

S.A.F.E.R. of Carver County Fund (Search and Find Emergency Responders) is a new effort whose mission is to assist and locate people who have wandered and return them to their caregiver.  In cooperation with local law enforcement, fire departments, paramedics and locally trained volunteers, the fund initially will work to provide low to no cost bracelets and equipment to track those reported missing and provide education and training to professionals to better work with and respond to these special circumstances.

Operating Funds are used to address the operational needs of the Foundation itself, so that it can continue to run effectively and be an asset to the community in addressing needs now and in the future.  Strong and early operational support is needed to create an organization that is sustainable for the long-term benefit of Carver County.  Please join our growing list of Founders Society members who have chosen to support our development.  It is through the investment of many that our Foundation will be successful.
